Quick comparison

  • Peach Skin: soft, smooth and durable everyday fabric. Included in the base price (covers from $49.00).
  • 2-Way Tricot: silky stretch fabric with the most vivid colors. +$14.00 on top of the base price.
  • Both: printed on the front and back, zipper closure, available in both sizes, same care routine.

What is Peach Skin?

Peach Skin is a smooth fabric with a finely brushed surface, which gives it a soft, matte, slightly velvety touch (the "peach fuzz" it is named after). It has little stretch, so it keeps its shape and makes a dependable everyday cover.

  • A soft, matte look and a warm, cozy feel.
  • Pastel and cozy designs, where a gentle finish suits the artwork.
  • Everyday use and budget-friendly orders.
  • People who dislike a shiny or slippery feel.

The trade-off: colors print a little less bright than on tricot, and because it stretches less, an under-filled insert can show wrinkles.

What is 2-Way Tricot?

2-Way Tricot is a knit fabric that stretches in two directions. It is smooth and silky to the touch with a slight sheen, and it hugs the insert closely, so the artwork sits taut across the pillow. It is usually sold as the premium dakimakura fabric.

  • Vivid, saturated colors and high-contrast art.
  • Detailed designs: fine hair strands, patterns and small props.
  • A snug, smooth fit on the inner pillow.
  • Gifts where the first look on unboxing matters.

The trade-off: it costs $14.00 more, and some people find its smooth, cool surface less cozy than Peach Skin. Like any stretch knit, keep it away from rough surfaces, jewelry and pet claws that can snag it.

Color and print: what to expect

Fabric never glows like a backlit screen. On any fabric, colors look a little softer than in your design preview, Peach Skin more so than 2-Way Tricot. This is normal and explained in our refund and reprint policy.

  • Dark or very saturated palettes (night skies, neon sci-fi, deep jewel tones): 2-Way Tricot shows them best.
  • Pastels and soft lighting (tea shops, sleepy animals, cottage scenes): both look good, and Peach Skin adds a soft matte finish.
  • Fine detail: the smooth surface of 2-Way Tricot keeps small details crisp.
  • Whatever you choose, check your print proof carefully. It shows exactly what will be printed.

Feel, stretch and fit

  • Peach Skin: soft and matte with minimal stretch. It looks best on a well-filled insert of exactly the right size.
  • 2-Way Tricot: silky and stretchy. It is forgiving if your insert is slightly fuller, and feels smooth against your face.
  • Both fabrics come in 150 × 50 cm and 160 × 50 cm. Not sure which length? Read the dakimakura size guide.

Care and durability

Both fabrics use the same gentle routine: inside out, zipper closed, a cold gentle wash or hand wash, air drying, no bleach and no high heat. The full steps are in how to wash a body pillow cover. Always check the care label that comes with your cover too.

Whichever fabric you choose, cold washes and drying in the shade are the simplest ways to look after the print.

So which should you choose?

  • Choose Peach Skin if you want a soft, matte everyday cover, love pastel or cozy art, or want to keep the price down.
  • Choose 2-Way Tricot if your character has bold colors or lots of detail, you want the most vivid print, or it is a gift for a collector.
  • Still torn? Look at your design. Dark, neon or highly detailed art: tricot. Soft and pastel: either works, so choose by feel.
